The man who tried to buy his way to be Mayor of LA stomps on more sour grapes

Billionaire Rick Caruso who was too cowardly to run for Mayor of LA this year because the prospect of losing again to Karen Bass was too humiliating for him – especially after he spent over $100 million to buy the seat – is up there in Santa Barbara today.
Rick is roaming the aisles of the CVS where “items aren’t locked behind glass.”
He tweets that “we” need to get LA back to a place where places like CVS don’t lock things up like the lotion he’s bringing back to the hotel.
Perhaps the coward can tell us when that time was because (as he well knows) crime hear in LA is at historic lows.
Property crime has decreased by 63% than what it was 40 years ago in 1986, the year before Rick started his company, Caruso.

Meanwhile CVS in the last 6 years have had record profits in 4 of those years.
The finger the cowardly billionaire should be pointing at are chains like CVS who have reaped in more money than they’ve ever had, but fail to invest in hiring more employees to work the aisles which would curb even more theft.
But that would be off brand for the guy who just wants to bitch about LA while hobnobbing in the tony beachsides of the 805.
By the way, if Rick ever chooses to get on his high horse about violent crimes: LA is currently experiencing low rates there too.

Do we see more crime than we used to? Yes. Everyone has a camera in their pocket. News stations relying on ratings love to show anything they can that will get viewership and/or clicks online.
But that doesn’t mean we live in worse times than when Rick started the company that made him the wealthy man he is today.
By the way: around the 22 second mark, Rick passes by a wall of items that — you guessed it — are locked in a case.
Yes even in his beloved Monti-Barbara.
If Rick really wants to do something with those billions he has he could build some affordable housing for the ever-shrinking middle class, which continues to shrink when corporations like CVS do everything they can to cut jobs via self-service cashiers, shorter store hours, and fewer stores.
By the way, there is no CVS in Montecito. There’s one very close to the land of Oprah and Prince Harry, but that’s technically Santa Barbara – where the other whining failed politician Spencer Pratt lives with his daddy.
Glad he lost too.
